Happy Gandhi Jayanti
Gandhi Jayanti is indeed an occasion to celebrate. Every year in India as well as several parts of the world, it is celebrated in a grand. On Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti: The President and Prime Minister of India pay homage in front of the Mahatma’s statue at the Raj Ghat in New Delhi. Schools hold celebrations where students participate in fancy dress competitions, sing Mahatma Gandhi’s favourite hymns and present their own insights on the Gandhian philosophy of nonviolence. Across the country, Mahatma Gandhi’s statues are refurbished and garlanded and people pay their respect to Gandhiji, as he was popularly addressed. Mahatma Gandhi - ‘Father of Nation’ is lovingly addressed as ‘Bapu’ and till now people recall his bravery, as he stood up to the Britishers in a non-violent manner.
