Preventive Measures of COVID-19

Our world recently got struck by a pandemic called COVID-19. It is one of the most dangerous epidemic disease world has seen. It is caused by corona virus. Corona viruses are a family of viruses that causes disease in mammals and birds. Corona viruses are generally circulating within animals but some of them have capability of transmitting between animals and humans. When these virus start to transmit from animals to humans it is called a spillover event. COVID-19 transmits through droplets release when we sneeze or cough. As per studies, it was concluded  that COVID-19 is not airborne. If a human is infected with them, it can cause common cold to MERs (middle east respiratory syndrome) to SARs (severe acute respiratory syndrome) in humans.

The corona viruses mainly cause respiratory problems. Currently, vaccines or antiviral drugs for  the prevention and treatment of human COVID-19 infections are yet to be discovered. So what we can do in this dire situation is try and prevent ourselves from the infection to happen.

PREVENTION (Do’s and Don’ts):
I. Hand wash(Do): a thorough hand wash is a good practice to follow during this time. Proper hand
wash reduces the risk of infection. It is necessary if you have visited some public area.

II. Cover(Do): Cover your nose and mouth with disposable tissue or flexed elbow in case you
need to cough or sneeze.

III. Touch face(Don’t): On average a human being touches his face 23 time in an hour. This provide the virus an opportunity  to enter into our system fast. Avoiding touching the face will do the trick  for prevention from COVID-19. Or if you really need to try washing or sanitising your hand before touching your face.
IV. Space(Do): As already discussed, COVID-19 is not airborne hence corona virus does not transmit through air. But direct human contact with each other is still worrisome as we don’t know who has it or who is safe. Best practice to follow during this Time is to maintain a safe distance between self and other.
V. Social Distancing(Do): Staying at home and leaving only if necessary is the one thing which can prevent the spread of corona virus. This way if you are safe, you will stay safe and if you are infected you will be doing good for community by not spreading it.

During this pandemic era, if we are able to follow above listed Do’s and Don’ts,  we will be able  to save our self, our families and community from the COVID-19 danger, which is surrounding us.

So India please help us to protect ourself for our well being.
